Kozuchi No Yado Tsurukame Daikichi

Kozuchi no Yado Tsurukame Daikichi is a luck-themed ryokan located about a 3-minute walk from Nikko Toshogu Shrine. From the lobby, you can look out over the clear waters of the Otani River and Nikko’s rich nature, making it easy to lose track of time. Rooms are all designed to let you enjoy Nikko’s scenery even while indoors, such as the “Engi Room,” the “Shofuku Room” with a terrace-style bath, and the “Shifuku Room” with an open-air bath on the balcony. The Shifuku rooms are themed around four wishes—wealth, longevity, promotion, and happiness—with different interiors for each room so you can relax while enjoying different atmospheres. From the top-floor large bath and panoramic open-air bath, you can take in seasonally colored mountains and the soothing sound of the river, feeling as if you have Nikko all to yourself. The inn’s signature hot charcoal kaiseki meal uses seasonal mountain and sea ingredients selected by the chef and grilled over Nikko charcoal. At breakfast, you can choose your favorite fish and have it grilled for you. Inside the property there is a large mallet (kozuchi); it’s said that making a wish there brings good fortune.
