Ureshino Onsen Shiiba Sanso

Ureshino Onsen Ryokan Shiibayamaso is a sister-style inn of the historic Ureshino Onsen ryokan “Taishoya.” In the Michelin Guide Fukuoka–Saga–Nagasaki 2019 Special Edition (released July 13, 2019), Shiibayamaso was listed with 4 pavilions. The inn’s bath, “Shiiba no Yu,” lets you fully enjoy Ureshino’s private hot-spring source in both indoor and open-air baths, and day-use bathing is also available. Meals are kaiseki featuring specially selected beef, along with river fish such as yamame and ayu, seasonal mountain vegetables, and freshly harvested local produce—beautifully presented using local ceramics such as Arita-yaki and Hasami-yaki. Breakfast specialties include “melting onsen yudofu” and “Ureshino tea porridge,” both must-try items. Access: by public transportation, take the JR bus about 30 minutes from JR Sasebo Line “Takeo-Onsen Station,” then about 5 minutes by taxi from Ureshino Onsen Bus Center (some pickup service available). Highway bus “Kyushu-go” runs from Fukuoka Airport Terminal, and shared taxis run from Saga Airport. By car, exit at Ureshino IC (Nagasaki Expressway) and drive about 5–10 minutes.
