Geihoku International Ski Resort
Geihoku Kokusai Ski Resort is a ski area in Yamagata District, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is divided into three sections—the International Area, the Kakezu Area, and the Ohira Area—and is popular thanks in part to its six-person chairlift. Known as one of the largest snow paradises in western Japan, it attracts large crowds from across the region and is lively with tourists throughout the season. There are courses for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers and snowboarders, and there are also beginner programs with instructors (paid). Of course, there is a Kids Park where children can enjoy playing in the snow with sledding and tubing. A moving belt lift also makes it easy for kids to keep playing on their own, so parents can simply watch over them—another great point. Geihoku Kokusai Ski Resort also has an on-slope cafeteria, and menu items named after the area, such as the Geihoku Burger Set and the Geihoku Set Meal, are especially popular. To get to Geihoku Kokusai Ski Resort, take the Hiroko Kanko ski bus from JR Hiroshima Station for about 2 hours, but note that the bus runs only during the ski season.
