Musashi Kyuryo National Government Park
Musashi Kyuryo National Government Park is a national park located in Namegawa Town, Hiki District, and Kumagaya City in Saitama Prefecture. It opened in 1974 as Japan’s first national government park. Centered around woodlands and wetlands, the park provides a habitat for rare plants and animals that are difficult to find today, giving it outstanding popularity among children who love insects. The park is also known for one of the largest fields of yamayuri (gold-banded lilies) in the Kanto region, and it offers a cycling course and orienteering, making it a nature-rich destination. It is designated as a marathon course for students and is also part of the Japan Three-Day March route. Many seasonal events that make the most of nature are held throughout the year, and children can enjoy Japan’s largest air trampoline (about 1,000 m²), athletic courses, playground equipment, water play areas, and open lawns, making it a park that parents and children can enjoy together. There is also a large dog run of about 6,000 m², making it a soothing spot where visitors can relax and reduce everyday stress while enjoying the natural surroundings. Access to Musashi Kyuryo National Government Park is easy: get off at “Kumagaya” Station on the Chichibu Railway, take a bus bound for Shinrin-Koen Station, and get off at “Shinrin-Koen Nishiguchi,” right nearby.
