Ise-Shima Skyline

The Ise-Shima Skyline Observatory is a sightseeing spot on the summit of Mount Asama at an elevation of 500 meters, located along the toll road connecting Ise City and Toba City. From Ise-NishI IC on the Ise-Futami-Toba Road, drive toward the Naiku (Inner Shrine) area and you’ll reach it in about five minutes. A slope ramp is installed from the parking area, allowing wheelchair users to move smoothly as well. From the summit, you can enjoy views of blue skies and islands floating in the sea. It is also a spectacular viewpoint for the first sunrise of the year, with the sun rising over the Pacific Ocean on New Year’s Day. Near the observatory, there is also a footbath where you can relax and take your time. In the summit plaza, you’ll find a round postbox selected as a "Lovers’ Sanctuary," also known as the "Sky Post." You can actually mail items from it, so why not buy a postcard at the shop and post it as a travel keepsake. Next to the shop is Asama Chaya, a casual eatery where you can enjoy light meals such as udon, making it easy to take a break during your drive or sightseeing.
