Nakasu entertainment district

Nakasu Entertainment District is a nightlife district located on Nakasu, a narrow island about 1 km long between the Naka River and the Hakata River in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka. Around 3,500 establishments line the area, and it is often called the largest entertainment district in western Japan and in Kyushu. Its scale is also considered one of Japan’s three major entertainment districts. From the “Fuku-haku Deai Bridge” between Nakasu and Nishi-Nakasu, you can see beautiful neon views of Nakasu. Canal City Hakata is also nearby, and the area stays busy from morning until late at night. Major events such as Hakata Dontaku, Hakata Gion Yamakasa, and Nakasu Jazz are also held in this district. Along the rivers, yatai street stalls operate, so even people who don’t drink alcohol can enjoy the atmosphere. It’s said that about 60,000 people visit Nakasu in a single day, reflecting how large and lively it is. Shops are also open during daytime (you can even find places like Mos Burger), so many people pass through in the day as well. Access is immediate from Nakasu-Kawabata Station.
