Fukuoka Tower
Fukuoka Tower is a landmark tower in Fukuoka City, standing 234 meters tall—the tallest seaside tower in Japan. Built as a monument for the Asia-Pacific Exposition held in 1989, it remains popular as an observation tower and sightseeing spot. Inside the observatory, glass extends down to the floor, giving a refreshing, open feeling. The view is a 360-degree panorama of Hakata Bay and the Fukuoka cityscape. Seasonal illumination displays are also a notable feature, bringing a sense of comfort and enjoyment to locals. Events are held frequently, including a sky-walk experience using VR binoculars from 123 meters up, stamp rallies, and “happening window” activities. The tower is also recognized as a “Sacred Place for Lovers,” with traditions like the “Love Key” legend. At around 120 meters above ground there is a restaurant where you can dine while enjoying one of Japan’s top night views (selected in night-view rankings). Access is easy by Nishitetsu bus: get off at “Fukuoka Tower Minami-guchi” or “Fukuoka Tower” and it’s right there.
