Road Station Furari Tomiyama

Michi-no-Eki Furari Tomiyama is the 14th roadside station in Chiba, located in the naturally blessed town of Tomiyama between sea and mountains. The name “Furari Tomiyama” was chosen through a public contest and is said to be a shortened expression meaning “Tomiyama’s fun village.” The station features a direct-produce and local products corner with regional foods, dining options, and a rich lineup of hands-on activities. You can try soba-making year-round, and seasonal experiences include edible nanohana picking (Jan–Feb), bamboo shoot digging (Apr), loquat picking (May–Jun), blueberry picking (Jul–Aug), and mandarin orange picking (Oct–Dec), so you can enjoy visiting in different seasons. A must-try food here is nanohana-based dishes using a local specialty. One popular item is Nanohana Ramen, which is seasonal—if you catch it during its sales period, don’t miss it. Another recommended nearby spot is the Narcissus Walking Trail, about a 15–20 minute walk away. You can enjoy a hike while viewing narcissus flowers along embankments and roadsides, and if the season matches, you may see both plum blossoms and narcissus together. Access is from JR Iwai Station, about a 15–20 minute walk.
