Mother Farm

Mother Farm (Mazerbokujo) is a tourism ranch-style theme park within Minami-Boso Quasi-National Park, with one of the largest sites in Kanto at about 2.5 million m². Located on Mt. Kano, it offers grand views over the Boso Peninsula’s mountains, Tokyo Bay, and even Mt. Fuji; the mountain is said to be so scenic that painters can’t help but pick up a brush. The famous painter Kaii Higashiyama’s breakthrough work ‘Zansho’ is said to have been inspired by the Kujukudani area of Mt. Kano, and you can also enjoy excellent views of Kujukudani from within the farm. Access is by direct route bus: from JR Kimitsu Station south exit, board at stand #1 and get off at “Mother Farm Makiba Gate” (about 40 minutes). The park has many animals—sheep, cows, horses, goats, pigs, plus alpacas, capybaras, rabbits, guinea pigs, and more—and you can enjoy not only viewing but also hands-on experiences like milking and feeding. Recommended attractions include the ‘Sheep Grand Parade’ where about 150 sheep run across the field together; the ‘Sheep Show’ introducing 19 sheep breeds from around the world and featuring sheep shearing; and the ‘Mother Farm Tour,’ introduced in partnership with Expo Co. as a New Zealand-style attraction, where you ride a tractor train through a dedicated area and a guide introduces rare animals.
