Katsuura Hotel Mikazuki is a seaside hotel along the beach of Katsuura Bay, part of the Mikazuki Group famous for its catchy TV commercial song. Access is very convenient: 1 minute by shuttle bus from JR Sotobo Line Katsuura Station, or about a 6-minute walk. A key recommendation is the spa with spectacular views. There are three main options: the all-weather indoor spa “Action Spa Zone” (not affected by the weather), the outdoor “Sky Spa Zone” on the 8th floor with a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, and a bedrock-bath (ganbanyoku) area. The indoor spa offers 19 types including baths, saunas, and a current pool; the outdoor spa has about 9 types—making it fun for both adults and children. The hotel is also famous for the “Pure Gold Kaiun no Yu (Good Fortune Bath),” said to bring luck in fortune, money, and promotion. This bath uses 50 kg of 18K gold, yet guests can enter for free—something you’ll want to try at least once. Room views are also a highlight: from the window you can see Katsuura Port to the left, a white sandy beach to the right, and an emerald-blue sea spreading out beyond.
