Kouri Ocean Tower
Kouri Ocean Tower is an observation tower on Kouri Island off the Motobu Peninsula in Okinawa. Kouri Island has a population of about 346 people, and the tower is a popular sightseeing spot often visited after crossing Kouri Bridge. Because a “Japan’s Adam and Eve” legend remains here, Kouri is called the Island of Love, and the Ocean Tower—set in this romantic setting—offers panoramic views from about 80 meters above sea level, attracting many couples. From the parking lot, you ride an automatic cart with commentary up to the tower, and there are hidden heart marks throughout the facility. There is an observation floor and an ocean deck where you can feel Kouri’s sea with your whole body and enjoy a “private” feeling of the view. There is also a Bell of Happiness—be sure to ring it. The facility includes a shell museum, souvenir corner, and a restaurant, making it an easy spot to visit. Access is about 1 hour 30 minutes from Naha Airport using the expressway.
