Miyazawa Kenji Fairytale Village

Miyazawa Kenji Fairy Tale Village is a facility that recreates the fantasy world depicted in the stories of Kenji Miyazawa, a poet and children’s story writer from Iwate. He created many works known widely in Japan, including "Ame ni mo Makezu," "Night on the Galactic Railroad," and "The Restaurant of Many Orders." As you enter the village, it is broadly divided into five areas. "Kenji’s School" introduces Miyazawa’s life and the worlds of his stories in a way that is easy to understand even for first-time visitors. "Kenji’s Classrooms" are log-house-style buildings, each themed around motifs such as animals, plants, and stars that influenced him, with exhibits in each cottage. In addition, spots like "Fairy Path," the "Wildflower Garden," and "Owl Path" let you immerse yourself in the nature-loving, fantastic atmosphere. A light-up event, typically held mainly on weekends from late July to early November, offers an even more magical ambiance and is well worth seeing.
