Nakajima Park

Nakajima Park is a park in Chuo Ward, Sapporo, selected as one of Japan’s "Top 100 Urban Parks" and "Top 100 Historical Parks." Although it sits next to Susukino—Sapporo’s famous entertainment district—it is surrounded by rich greenery and water. The park contains important cultural assets such as the Hoheikan (a nationally designated Important Cultural Property) and Hasso-an. In addition, there are facilities like the Sapporo Children’s Puppet Theater "Koguma-za," Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara, and the Sapporo Observatory, and the park also hosts unique festivals. Some festivals even feature rare sideshow-style theaters. In spring, you can rent boats on the pond; in winter, the park becomes a cross-country skiing area with free equipment lending. With over 100 years of history, Nakajima Park is also known for its architectural highlights, especially Hasso-an and the accompanying Japanese garden, which is strikingly beautiful. There are playground structures for children as well, making it enjoyable for families. Access is immediate from Nakajima-Koen Station on the Subway Namboku Line—exit via gates 1 or 3.
