Hakata Port Tower
Hakata Port Tower is a tower located at Bayside Place Hakata Wharf in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City. It stands 100 meters tall, with an observation room at 70 meters. Loved as a symbol of Hakata Port, it is a prominent local landmark. Next door, the Hakata Port Bayside Museum lets visitors learn about Hakata Port. The observation deck is free to enter, and it stays open at night, so many people come to enjoy the night view. Nearby is Bayside Place Hakata (a complex facility), which includes an 8-meter-tall conical aquarium. Around 3,000 fish of 30 species swim there. There are also a shrine and a hot spring, creating a small “town-like” area. Events are actively held as well. In this lively setting, Hakata Port Tower stands out even more. It is a popular sightseeing spot for locals and for domestic and international tourists. Access is about a 15-minute drive from Hakata Station.
