名古屋名物 みそかつ矢場とん 矢場町本店

Yabaton Yabacho Main Store is a long-established and hugely popular tonkatsu restaurant, located about a 5-minute walk from the subway stations "Yabacho" and "Kamimaezu." Founded in 1947, it is the flagship location of the famous brand that, as of 2021, operates 25+ stores mainly across Aichi Prefecture and the Kansai region. Expect long lines, but many visitors happily queue for its addictive flavors and come back again and again. The secret behind Yabaton’s signature dish, "miso katsu," lies in three key elements: carefully selected pork so tender it doesn’t need pounding, a crisp and light breading fried using a blend of vegetable oil and lard, and a handcrafted miso sauce made by skilled artisans using aged soybean miso. Even though tonkatsu and miso sauce are both rich, Yabaton’s miso katsu is surprisingly not heavy and finishes cleanly, making it popular with diners of all ages. Beyond miso katsu, the menu also includes many dishes that pair well with drinks, such as a salad of fresh raw vegetables and sliced boiled pork tossed in the special miso sauce, and miso-seasoned daikon. Outside the restaurant, there is a monument of Yabaton’s character "Boo-chan," a beloved photo spot for travelers.
