Saga Prefectural Space & Science Museum
The Saga Prefectural Space & Science Museum, also known as “Yumeginga,” is Kyushu’s largest natural science museum and has a building that looks like a spaceship. Exhibits are organized into permanent displays, special exhibitions, and special events, so repeat visits can feel fresh. The museum also features a planetarium, an observatory, and astronomy viewing sessions. With hands-on, participatory activities, visitors can explore in ways that match their interests. Family-friendly areas such as the “Science Toy Box” and children’s plaza are well equipped, making it enjoyable for both kids and adults. Because access to other sightseeing areas is also good, it can be a great addition to a family trip itinerary. Access: by car, about 15 minutes from Kitagata IC (Nagasaki Expressway). By public transportation, about 10 minutes by taxi from JR Takeo-Onsen Station. By bus, take a Yutoku bus from Takeo-Onsen Station, get off at “Nagashima” stop, then walk about 15 minutes. Rental bicycles are available from JR Takeo-Onsen Station. On weekends and holidays, Yutoku buses also run directly to “Space Science Museum-mae.”
