Takeo City Library
Takeo City Library is a multi-purpose complex in Takeo City, Saga Prefecture, consisting of a library and a historical materials museum, among other facilities. Despite the name suggesting a typical municipal library, it is a new-style library built around the theme of “Cafe & Library.” With high ceilings, an open atmosphere, pleasant background music, and the ability to enjoy coffee while reading, it offers a comfortable experience. Inside, both TSUTAYA and Starbucks Coffee are integrated, and the library is managed by a private operator—making it a rare spot. Since adopting this style in 2013, it has drawn attention from both inside and outside the prefecture and has grown into a sightseeing destination. It suggests a new travel style: relaxing with a book and coffee during your trip. By public transportation, it is a 15-minute walk from JR Takeo-Onsen Station (JR Sasebo Line). By bus, get off at “Toshokan-mae” (Yutoku Bus) or “Yumetown” (JR Kyushu Bus) and it’s right there. By car, it is about 10 minutes from Takeo-Kitakata IC (Nagasaki Expressway).
