Ise-Shima Summit Memorial Museum
The Ise-Shima Summit Memorial Museum Samieru opened in 2017 to commemorate the 2016 Ise-Shima Summit, just as its name suggests. It is located on the 2nd floor of "Kashikojima Station," the terminal station of the Kintetsu Shima Line, and it was built with the aim of passing on the summit’s record to the next generation. Inside, you can explore displays covering the journey from the summit bid to the event itself, learn about what happened on the day, and even study the summit through quiz-style exhibits—making it an impressively substantial facility for a free admission site. There are also panels introducing participating countries and organizations, plus exhibits such as the round table and chairs actually used for meetings. You can even sit in the chairs, so why not enjoy a small moment of "leader" atmosphere. Next door, the adjacent "Cafe Samieru" serves original menu items inspired by the summit and the G7. The name "Samieru" is said to be based on "Sami" for the Ise-Shima Summit, "Mie" for Mie Prefecture, and "Mieru" meaning "to be seen."
