Paramita Museum

The Paramita Museum, located about a five-minute walk from Ohbaneen Station on the Kintetsu Yunoyama Line, is a private art museum that opened in 2003 to exhibit the collection of Chizuko Kojima, the older sister of Takuya Okada of the AEON Group. The museum’s name "Paramita" comes from its main collection, Masuo Ikeda’s ceramic sculptures "Heart Sutra Series," and is derived from the Sanskrit term "paramita"—meaning to cross from this shore of the deluded world to the far shore of nirvana and enlightenment. Inside the two-story museum, you can see the entire "Heart Sutra Series" as a permanent display, along with special exhibitions on various themes held throughout the year. The attached Paramita Garden, spanning about 1,200 tsubo, features stone sculptures by sculptor Makio Yamaguchi and landscaping colored by about 200 kinds of wildflowers and plants that grow in the Suzuka mountain foothills nearby, making it a place where you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall. It is a refreshing space where nature and art feel in harmony.
