Yarimikan
Yarimikan is a single-inn, old-folk-house-style lodging along the Gamata River, located near Shin-Hotaka Ropeway in the Shin-Hotaka Onsen area of Okuhida Onsen-go. The main building was relocated from a 200-year-old village headman’s residence; in the lobby, a charming irori hearth room and a nostalgic water basin (mizubune) welcome guests. All rooms are Japanese-style, with varied atmospheres such as folk-house-inspired rooms and rooms with an irori hearth. Guests can enjoy renowned free-flowing hot springs, including a mixed-gender open-air bath boasting one of Okuhida’s most open, expansive feelings with views toward Mt. Yari (Yarigatake), and a large bath from which, on clear days, you can see the majestic peak straight ahead from the tub. There are also women-only open-air baths and a footbath for relaxed fatigue recovery. Meals are a local kaiseki style that makes the most of seasonal ingredients under a “local production for local consumption” concept, served in a dedicated robatayaki-style dining area. Breakfast features wholesome dishes such as house-made hōba miso that perfectly complements premium Koshihikari rice. Yarimikan is also one of the few inns in Okuhida officially designated for Hida beef cuisine, so guests can savor top-quality Hida beef dishes.
