Ohori Park
Ohori Park is an urban park in Fukuoka City centered around a pond created from what was once the outer moat of Fukuoka Castle. A distinctive feature is the island in the middle of the pond, accessible by bridges. The total area is about 398,000 square meters, and visitors can enjoy seasonal nature along with boat rentals such as rowboats, canoes, and classic swan boats—making it easy to spend a full day here. The park includes a children’s playground and restaurants, so kids can enjoy it too. The path around the pond is about 2 km, popular for walking and running; rental bicycles are also available for those who want to circle the park by bike. Nearby and within the park area are attractions such as the Fukuoka Castle ruins, the Ohori Park Japanese Garden, a wild-bird forest area, the Starbucks Coffee Ohori Park store, and the Fukuoka Art Museum. Thanks to its convenient location near other sightseeing areas, it draws not only locals but also many domestic and international visitors, yet it often still feels spacious enough to enjoy a relaxed, elegant time. Access is about a 5-minute walk from Ohori-Koen Station.
