Hoshino Resorts KAI Tsugaru

Hoshino Resorts KAI Tsugaru is a hotel perched on a hill in the hot spring area of Owani Onsen, located in the suburbs of Hirosaki. It reopened after renovation in April 2019, and all guest rooms were transformed into "Tsugaru Kogin Rooms." A "Tsugaru Kogin Room" incorporates the "Modoko" pattern, a basic design of Tsugaru’s traditional kogin embroidery, into the room’s décor. The hotel offers both Japanese-style and Western-style rooms, and some Japanese-style rooms can accommodate up to five guests, making them a good choice for groups. The hotel has only one "Annex" room, surrounded by trees and designed like a private hideaway with its own open-air bath. KAI Tsugaru also offers a Tsugaru kogin embroidery bookmark-making experience, which is a lovely keepsake to take home. In the lobby, you can enjoy live Tsugaru shamisen performances every evening. The hot spring water is said to have a pleasant viscosity and to be beneficial for neuralgia, muscle pain, and arthritis. Soak in the signature "apple bath," featuring Aomori apples floating in a tub made with Aomori hiba wood, while enjoying the outdoor scenery (there are times, such as in summer, when apples may not be floating). For dinner, you can savor seasonal dishes using premium Aomori ingredients, and for breakfast you can enjoy Japanese cuisine featuring local favorites such as kaiyaki miso made with regional ingredients.
