Tamatsukuri Onsen Matsunoyu
Tamatsukuri Onsen Matsunoyu is a ryokan in Matsue City and a long-established inn founded in 1885 (Meiji 18), continuing the lineage from its predecessor “Matsuzaki Sui-tei” that once stood near Lake Shinji. Tamatsukuri Onsen is said to be Japan’s oldest hot spring and is known as one of the three great “beauty” hot springs, famous for its skin-smoothing waters. The ryokan offers a wide variety of baths including a large public bath, open-air bath, four private reservable baths, and rooms with private open-air baths. Day-use bathing is also available. Guest rooms include Japanese-Western styles, and it’s popular across many age groups. Meals highlight local ingredients. Breakfast ranges from set meals to buffet style; in particular, the buffet French toast is so popular that it makes guests want to return. Nearby is a spot called “Tarai-yu” where you can take hot spring water home by filling a (separately purchased) spray bottle. With footbaths and Tamatsukuri-yu Shrine nearby, there is plenty to enjoy during your stay. Access: about 8 minutes by car from JR Tamatsukuri Onsen Station.
