Roadside station Toju-no-sato Adogawa
Michi-no-Eki Toju no Sato Adogawa is a roadside station within about a 10–15 minute walk from JR Adogawa Station. It showcases and sells local specialties and regional products from Takashima City, which has the largest land area in Shiga Prefecture, and also offers hands-on experiences such as decorating folding fans—one of Shiga’s traditional industries. The "Takashima Michikusa Market," where products from around 150 local shops are gathered, features fresh vegetables and lake fish caught in Lake Biwa. Sweets made with Adoberry, a local specialty of Adogawa, are also highly popular. At the attached restaurant "Adogawa Kitchen," you can enjoy an Adoberry float, as well as unique meals such as breakfasts made with Takashima-grown rice and vegetables and a Takashima fermented set meal. Another on-site option, "Noka Restaurant Daikichi Grill Bokujyo," serves dishes featuring Omi beef from Daikichi, a long-established producer that has raised Omi beef in Shiga for generations. The facility also includes a grassy plaza with playground equipment, making it a comfortable place for families and travelers to relax.
