Onihei Edo (Hanyu PA)

Onihei Edo-dokoro is a parking area on the inbound lanes of the Tohoku Expressway, and it is the southernmost parking area on the Tohoku Expressway. In 2013, it was renovated into “Onihei Edo-dokoro,” a parking area designed to express an Edo-period world view, themed around Onihei Hankacho, which has ties to this area. The parking lot is spacious, with capacity for 267 vehicles including 148 large vehicles. The restaurants also use names that appear in Onihei Hankacho, such as Gotetsu, Honjo Sanadaya, Chuuhachi, Bentatsu, Manshichi, Funabashiya, Yatai-ren, and Bunraku-yaki Honpo, creating a unified theme. Naturally, the buildings themselves are also thoroughly Edo-inspired, making it a fun conversation topic during travel. The outbound lanes were renovated earlier in 2009 as Pasar Hanyu. This has become a popular stop that feels like a theme park rather than a typical parking area. Access to Onihei Edo-dokoro is 5.4 km from Tatebayashi Interchange. Admission is free, but note that costs are required to use the expressway and travel by car.
