Mitsumine Shrine
Mitsumine Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture. Widely regarded as one of the largest and most powerful spiritual spots in the Kanto region, it is a popular destination for both worshippers and tourists. The shrine is believed to bring blessings for financial luck and romance, and it was especially famous for distributing the White Ki Amulet on the first day of each month, which attracted long lines before the distribution was suspended. Mitsumine Shrine is one of the three major shrines of Chichibu and is associated with the legendary hero Yamato Takeru, who is said to have prayed here for peace in Japan. Visitors pass through the rare triple torii gate before entering the sacred grounds of this shrine, which has a history of approximately 1,900 years. Simply visiting creates a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Beside the shrine stands a sacred tree estimated to be around 800 years old, surrounded by fresh mountain air rich in negative ions. It is said that touching the tree allows visitors to receive divine power. There is also a tradition of writing the name of a loved one on a paper twist and offering it at the shrine to wish for success in love. Uniquely, wolves are enshrined here as guardian deities, and wolf statues can be seen throughout the grounds. Mitsumine Shrine can be reached by bus in about one hour and fifteen minutes from Seibu-Chichibu Station. As buses are limited each day, it is recommended to check schedules in advance.
