Furuyu Onsen ONCRI

Furuyu Onsen Oncri is a famous “beauty bath” long known as a hidden hot-spring retreat of Saga Prefecture and visited by many notable people. Its concept is “a spa-resort style of hot-spring cure in three gorges.” While it is an accommodation, day-use bathing is also available at the bath facility “SHIORI.” It boasts a private spring output of about 43 tons per day, with a gentle 38°C temperature that requires no dilution, allowing true free-flowing source water. Because it’s lukewarm, it’s easy on the body and suited for making full use of hot-spring components in a therapeutic soak. You can enjoy various baths such as lying baths, standing baths, hinoki baths, foot baths, and box-steam baths. A highlight is the “natural sand-steam onsen,” which heats natural sand materials (tourmaline, ceramic sand, bakuhanseki, etc.) with natural hot-spring heat; negative ion and far-infrared effects are said to promote metabolism and activate cells, making it a popular bathing method here. Meals let you enjoy fresh seafood from Saga’s Genkai Sea and Ariake Sea and seasonal local ingredients, ranging from authentic kaiseki to natural Italian cuisine. By car, it is about 15 minutes from Saga-Yamato IC (Nagasaki Expressway) via Route 323 toward Karatsu. By public transportation, take the Showa Bus Furuyu-Kitayama Line from Saga Bus Center for about 45 minutes, get off at “Amagabashi,” then walk 5 minutes.
