Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is an aquarium in Motobu Town, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture, famous for one of Japan’s largest main tanks. The tank measures 35 m long × 27 m wide × 10 m deep, and the surrounding area is darkened to make the view even more striking. Inside, you can watch creatures ranging from huge fish such as an 8.6 m whale shark and manta rays to small fish swimming freely. There are also outdoor dolphin shows, as well as sea turtle and manatee facilities, offering abundant marine-life viewing. The main tank can also be viewed from above. The café inside the aquarium has an all-glass wall, allowing you to eat and drink while watching the fish—note that once you leave the aquarium, you cannot enter the café, so plan accordingly. There is also a tunnel beneath a large semi-dome where you can observe marine life from below. The souvenir shop sells many cute, aquarium-original goods. Access to Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is about 1 hour by bus from Nago Bus Terminal.
