Yunoshimakan Ryokan
Yunoshimakan is a ryokan standing with Mt. Yunoshima—also called “Gero Fuji”—as its backdrop. Its entrance and corridors, with layered rooflines and black plaster walls creating a dignified atmosphere, as well as the wooden three-story main building, are registered as Tangible Cultural Properties. The main building centers on sukiya-style rooms where you can appreciate Hida craftsmanship and Showa-era romance, and from the rooms you can enjoy the beauty of a garden filled with cedar groves. The hilltop annex “Keizanso” has all rooms equipped with open-air panoramic baths, allowing you to feel a fusion of modern functionality and celebrated Showa architecture. There are two panoramic large baths and two panoramic open-air baths, and from the open-air baths you can view the Gero Onsen townscape and beyond it the Hida mountain ranges. Dinner is served in-room for all guests, letting you savor seasonal local highlights—carefully selected Hida beef, river fish such as ayu and amago caught locally, and other regional brand ingredients—paired with Hida’s local sake. There is also an observation deck on the property, where you can enjoy views of Hida’s mountains and the refreshing Hida River by day, and night scenery after dark.
