Takumi no Yado Miyama Ouan

Takumi no Yado Miyama Ouan is an inn surrounded by the Northern Alps mountains, including Mt. Kasagatake. Its reception area and main building use prized local timber and embody a dignified construction style woven by Hida master builders, inheriting traditions said to date back to the Nara period. Guest rooms use bold timber frameworks reminiscent of Hida folk houses, and throughout the inn there is a focus on natural materials such as solid wood and diatomaceous earth wall materials. Both men and women can wear original yukata and spend a relaxing time. Meals are seasonal local kaiseki cuisine that makes the most of regional ingredients and nature’s bounty, enjoyed around an irori-style table. The hot springs draw from three high-quality sources in Okuhida; from the large baths and open-air baths, you can admire views of Mt. Kasagatake and a sky full of stars. There is also a footbath at the entrance to soothe tired feet. After bathing, there is a service of milk at night and Yakult in the morning. In the main house, an “Ippuku Chaya” offers complimentary late-night soba (ramen), popular as a nighttime snack.
