Yuushien
Yuushien is a Japanese garden on Daikonjima Island in Matsue City, known as the “miniature garden of Izumo,” and famous for peonies and Korean ginseng. It is a large strolling garden (about 40,000 m²), said to be the largest in the San’in region. The garden encircles ponds, with peonies, peony-like flowers (shakuyaku), and wisteria blooming in season, and the Peony Hall allows you to enjoy peonies year-round. There are four dining spots offering local cuisine, also a Yuushien specialty. Seasonal events include floating 50,000 peonies on the pond, a “mist garden” event, night illumination, ukiyo-e projection mapping, and even AR app initiatives. Inside the garden are waterfalls such as Ryukei Falls and the female/male falls, making it a soothing place. Weddings can also be held here, and it’s popular across a wide range of ages, including international visitors. Access: from Matsue Station, take a bus to “Yatsuka Chuo,” then walk about 5 minutes.
