Bessho-numa Park

Bessho-Numa Park is a park in Saitama City that includes Bessho Swamp. Covering approximately 80,000 square meters including the pond, it is one of the few large relaxation spaces in Saitama City, where large parks are relatively limited. The park also has a children’s play area, and its large playground equipment and open spaces are especially popular with kids. In the past, eels lived in the pond and became a specialty of the historic Urawa post town, which is why there is also a statue of Urawa Unako-chan. The route from Musashi-Urawa Station to Bessho-Numa Park has been developed as a Flower and Green Walking Path, attracting visitors who come to enjoy seasonal plants throughout the year. After the Great Kanto Earthquake, notable figures moved to the surrounding areas of Tokiwa and Bessho, and even today the neighborhood remains an upscale residential district. Around the pond, 330 swamp cypress and metasequoia trees have been planted, and in summer a beer garden event hosted by Heritage Urawa Bessho-Numa Kaikan is held. Access to Bessho-Numa Park is a 20-minute walk from the west exit of JR Urawa Station.
