Auspicious Yamanaka
Kissho Yamanaka is a hot-spring ryokan in Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Opened in 2007, it’s a relatively new inn with a strong focus on women, offering many services geared toward female guests. One highlight is its “12 kinds of hospitality”: every day they present the traditional performance “Yamanaka-bushi Evening,” and they cook fluffy pancakes on a teppan (free). There are also private hot-spring baths, plus after-bath services including alcohol, sweets, and amazake. Other perks include drink service, yukata rental, tickets that let you receive local specialties for free on Yamanaka Onsen Yuge-Kaido, coffee-mill set loans, nano steamers that use hot-spring water, footbaths, and aroma pots. Free massage chairs and all-you-can-eat ice cream are also available. For guests staying multiple nights, lunch bento is provided. Meals feature delicious Kaga cuisine, and room options include rooms with open-air baths, rooms with indoor baths, and even single rooms for women traveling solo—truly a ryokan designed for women. Access: about 25 minutes by shuttle from JR Kagaonsen Station.
