Motorcar Museum of Japan
The Japan Automobile Museum is a car-themed museum in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture. It began with a private car collection shown to enthusiasts by Shozo Maeda (the first director and former president of Ishiguro Sangyo) in 1978; after facing relocation, it moved to the current site to ensure stable preservation. The museum reflects Maeda’s passion and romance, as he devoted the latter half of his life to establishing the museum and expanding the collection. The museum is a three-story, red-brick-style building with a total floor area of 11,550 m² and exhibits about 500 famous cars. It’s also notable for its restrooms: toilets from 15 countries are installed and can actually be used. It’s considered among the top levels of automobile museums in Japan, and in peak season you can also experience rides in classic cars. Highlights include models like the Toyota 2000GT, Toyota ABR Phaeton, and the Type 95 small passenger car. Access: from JR Kagaonsen Station, take the Kaga Loop Bus “Can Bus” (Yama route) and get off at the Japan Automobile Museum stop—right there.
