Kanazawa Castle Park

Kanazawa Castle Park is a park in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. It includes the National Historic Site (Kanazawa Castle Ruins) and, together with Kenrokuen, represents one of Ishikawa’s most iconic landscapes. The structures restored in 2001—Hishi Yagura, Gojikken Nagaya, and Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki Yagura—faithfully reproduce traditional construction methods and are must-sees not only from outside but also from inside. The grounds are wide with lawns and forested areas, making it excellent for strolling. Enjoying tea while viewing places like Gyokuseninmaru Garden is also recommended. At Gyokuseninmaru Garden, the Tsurunomaru Rest House has now been established. Structures such as Ishikawa Gate, Sanjikken Nagaya, and Tsurumaru Storehouse are designated Important Cultural Properties, and even the stone walls surrounding the castle carry their own sense of romance and history. On weekends there is night illumination, which attracts many tourists. Entry to the park is free, but entering facilities such as Hishi Yagura / Gojikken Nagaya / Hashizume-mon Tsuzuki Yagura requires a fee. Access: from Kanazawa Station, take a bus for about 15 minutes, get off at Kenrokuen-shita, then walk about 5 minutes.
