Shirai Oomachi Fuji Park
Shirai Omachi Wisteria Park is a park in Asago City, Hyogo Prefecture, famous for its wisteria trellises—among the largest in the San’in region. Access to the park is about a 15-minute taxi ride from Wadayama Station on the JR San’in Main Line and Bantan Line. The park is open only during the wisteria blooming season. Its spectacular trellis, stretching roughly 500 meters in total length and about 4 meters wide, is truly breathtaking. Drawn by the vivid colors and sweet fragrance of the wisteria blossoms, many visitors come to enjoy this popular spot. Another highlight is the large waterwheel (about 5 meters in diameter) and the waterwheel hut, built by local residents. Together with the beautiful satoyama countryside scenery characteristic of the Tajima region, the setting feels refreshingly serene. Each year, the park is illuminated for a limited period, creating an even more fantastical atmosphere centered around the fountain pond. The carp streamers (koinobori) swimming cheerfully in the May sky are also a magnificent sight. During the season, food stalls selling local dishes and sweets are set up as well. It’s an especially charming destination to visit during Golden Week.
