Mt. Kinka Ropeway
The Kinkazan Ropeway connects the Mt. Kinka foothill station and summit station in about 4 minutes. Even visitors with children or those not confident in their stamina can use the ropeway to enjoy the summit’s excellent views. It typically departs every 15 minutes, and every 10 minutes during busy periods. From the gondola, you can take in the natural beauty of Mt. Kinka and the Nagara River flowing through central Gifu City, as well as distant mountain ranges. Near the summit station is a Squirrel Village where you can interact directly with cute squirrels; many Taiwanese squirrels greet visitors, and you can also try feeding them. The spacious restaurant serves dishes such as Nobunaga Dote-don (a B-grade gourmet grand prix winner) and Hida beef menus. The restaurant’s glass-walled interior also offers panoramic views of Gifu City. Each summer, the ropeway operates at night as well, letting many people enjoy the night scenery from the gondola.
