Shousuke no Yado - Takinoyu
Shosuke no Yado Taki no Yu is a long-established inn in Higashiyama Onsen, founded about 130 years ago, with hot springs said to have opened 1,300 years ago. Its open-air baths and large public baths offer the rare experience of enjoying a natural waterfall (Fushimi-ga-taki) right alongside the bathing area. There are various meal plans, featuring distinctive local, farm-to-table cuisine, including not only standard kaiseki but also regional dishes. It’s also convenient: about 10 minutes by car to the city center, about 15 minutes from Aizuwakamatsu IC, and (reservation required) shuttle pickup by loop bus may be available. Tsuruga-jo (Wakamatsu Castle) is also about 10 minutes away by loop bus or local bus, making it easy to combine with sightseeing. Rooms range from Japanese-style to Western-style, and the fully renovated Japanese-Western rooms (refreshed in May 2012) follow an "Aizu Modern" theme, designed by architects and designers for a stylish, comfortable stay—especially popular with guests who prefer beds. Service is also a strong point, with many positive reviews; offerings like complimentary sake and matcha help make it a soothing stay.
