Tokyo German Village
Tokyo German Village is a theme park based on the concept of German rural life, and it’s especially famous for its winter illumination event, which was once recognized as one of the ‘Top 3 Illuminations in Kanto.’ Beyond illuminations, the park offers many activities: a children’s zoo, free play areas, a paid attractions zone with about 20 rides/activities, harvest experiences, large lawns, and a dog run. The park is also barrier-free, with most steps and slopes eliminated and strong consideration for wheelchair users, making it a recommended spot for anyone regardless of age, gender, or disability. Among the paid attractions, the most popular is putter golf. With 4 courses and 72 holes—said to be one of the largest scales in Kanto—the courses use natural turf throughout, and each course has its own character, which is part of the appeal. The illumination changes theme every year; for example, in 2020 (its 15th year), the theme was ‘A Journey Connecting the Past to the Future,’ and about 3 million lights illuminated the park. Because the theme changes annually, it remains fun even for repeat visitors. Access: from JR Chiba Station (East Exit, stop #21), take the express bus “Kapina-go (Chiba–Kamogawa Line)” and get off at Tokyo German Village (about 50 minutes).
