Hamanako Palpal is a family-friendly amusement park located by Lake Hamana. With many rides suitable even for small children and attractions the whole family can enjoy together, it’s perfect for a first amusement-park experience. The park is divided into three zones and offers about 30 attractions, ranging from fairy-tale style rides to thrilling coasters—so visitors can choose based on age and preference. On holidays, character stage shows and events are held irregularly, which gets kids very excited. In summer, a pool area also opens. The original characters supervised by Takashi Yanase are also popular and cute. Next to the park is the Kanzanji Ropeway, the only ropeway in Japan that crosses over a lake; it connects to the Hamanako Orgel Museum and the Okusayama Observatory. The amusement park is adjacent to the Kanzanji Onsen area, making it an ideal stop during a trip. Access is also convenient—about 5 minutes by car from Kanzanji Smart IC. Nearby you’ll also find day-use hot spring facilities and sightseeing boat piers, so you can enjoy the surrounding area too.
