Uogashi Maruten Uogashiten
Uogashi Maruten (Uogashi Branch) is a restaurant near the Numazu fish market, famous for its huge kakiage tempura and oversized seafood bowls. It stands out as one of the liveliest spots in the Numazu Port dining area, and long lines often form around lunchtime. The restaurant is praised for hearty, bold dishes made with fresh seafood just landed at Numazu Port. Its signature item is a tower-like, cylindrical seafood kakiage—a patented specialty. In addition to seafood bowls and tendon, the menu includes items like tuna tail stew, offering many ways to enjoy Suruga Bay seafood. It opens from 7:00 a.m., making it possible to visit after watching the fish auction. It’s used by both tourists and locals. The spacious interior includes 54 table seats, 48 tatami seats, and 7 counter seats, with a nostalgic diner-like vibe that matches the fish-market energy. There is also a “Minato” branch across from the Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium that has reopened after relocation/renewal; during busy times, choosing between the two can help. Access: about 10 minutes by bus from JR “Numazu” Station (South Exit); get off at “Numazu Port” and walk about 2 minutes.
