Yaizu fish center

Yaizu Sakana Center is a seafood market in Yaizu, a city known as one of Japan’s top fishing ports by landing volume. It’s packed with fresh seafood shipped directly from Yaizu Port, Ogawa Port, and Oigawa Port. Over 60 shops—mainly seafood vendors—line the market, and it attracts about 1.7 million visitors annually. Yaizu ranks No.1 nationwide for bonito landings, so you’ll find many products and dishes made from freshly caught bonito, plus items like katsuobushi (bonito flakes) and simmered bonito cubes. Yaizu is also famous for “Yaizu Minami Maguro” (southern bluefin tuna), sometimes called a “red diamond.” These wild tuna, which migrate in low-temperature waters of the Southern Hemisphere, are known for firm flesh and rich flavor. You can also find many other seafood varieties and rare cuts—unique to a fish-town market. The lively interaction with energetic shop staff is part of the fun. Dining options are plentiful too, including a large cafeteria, sushi shops, and seafood rice-bowl restaurants—so you can see, buy, and eat to your heart’s content. Access is excellent: about a 1-minute drive from Tomei Expressway Yaizu IC. Large parking is available, making it an easy stop on a drive or alongside other Yaizu sightseeing.
