Roadside Station Awaji

Michi-no-Eki Awaji is a roadside station on Prefectural Route 31 (Fukura–Ei–Iwaya Line) in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture. It is located directly beneath the Awaji-side end of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, the world’s longest suspension bridge, making it an outstanding viewpoint where you can take in dramatic, low-angle views of the surrounding scenery. It is also popular for enjoying Awaji Island’s local cuisine. Access is about a five-minute drive from Awaji IC on the Kobe–Awaji–Naruto Expressway. One Awaji specialty is fresh raw shirasu (juvenile sardines) landed at Iwaya Port; you can enjoy an exceptional raw shirasu rice bowl at restaurants such as “Ebisu-maru” and “Kaikyo-ro.” Other must-tries include seafood rice bowls, Awaji Island burgers, and Awaji beef roast-beef rice bowls—making this a paradise for food lovers. Its prime location and local gourmet offerings earned it first place nationwide in the “Jalan Roadside Station Ranking 2018.” It is a popular driving destination from the Keihanshin area. The spacious grounds also feature large monuments related to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, and you can stroll around to enjoy the scenery and an open, refreshing atmosphere.
