Awaji Service Area Tourist Information Center
The Awaji Service Area Tourist Information Center is a visitor information desk located in the Awaji Service Area (downbound lanes toward Tokushima) on the Kobe–Awaji–Naruto Expressway in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture. It’s an ideal stop to pick up travel information on Awaji Island and Shikoku when driving from the Keihanshin area, and it’s especially convenient because staff are available from 8:00 a.m. The Awaji Service Area can be reached in about one hour by car from central Osaka. The downbound service area is also known for its 65-meter-tall Ferris wheel, offering panoramic views of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Kobe Airport from the gondolas. In the upbound area, there is a “Heart Light Gate,” recognized as a “Sacred Place for Lovers.” At night, a lighting display using photoluminescent stones enhances the atmosphere, and together with the illuminated Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, it creates a romantic setting for couples. The upbound and downbound areas, as well as the adjacent Awaji Highway Oasis, are connected and can be reached on foot.
