Roadside Station Uzushio

Michi-no-Eki Uzushio is a roadside station located at Naruto Cape in Minami-Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, often described as “the roadside station closest to the whirlpools in Japan.” Situated at the base of the Onaruto Bridge (about 1,629 meters long) connecting Awaji Island and Naruto City in Tokushima Prefecture, it is a very popular sightseeing spot offering breathtaking views of the Naruto Strait and the bridge. Access is about a 5-minute drive from Awajishima-Minami IC on the Kobe–Awaji–Naruto Expressway (it is on local roads, not on the expressway itself). The signature local specialty is the “Awajishima Burger.” The “Awajishima Onion Beef Burger” from the Awajishima Onion Kitchen won the 2013 National Local Burger Grand Prix, and has become a hit product that sells about 150,000 burgers annually as an Awaji Island specialty. At “Shop Uzukuni,” which boasts more than 700 items, you can sample over 30 kinds of products—onion dressing, onion soup, onion tsukudani, onion jam, sweets, seafood, and more—making souvenir shopping a fun experience.
