Awaji Landscape Planning & Horticulture Academy

The Hyogo Prefectural Awaji Landscape Horticulture School is an educational, survey, and research institution in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, offering a horticultural therapy program, lifelong learning program, and a professional landscape horticulture program (Graduate School of Green Environment and Landscape Management, University of Hyogo). It opens its “Alpha Garden” to the public as “a flower garden that anyone can freely stroll at any time.” Access is by taking a highway bus from Kobe Sannomiya (Awaji Kotsu, Shinki Bus, Honshi Kaikyo Bus, or West JR Bus), getting off at the “Awaji IC Kosoku” bus stop, then taking the school’s free shuttle bus for about 10 minutes. On the grounds are many highlights, including the “Flower Garden,” which becomes most colorful and lively from April to early summer; the “Wind Garden,” located on the Nojima Hills at an elevation of 225 meters where you can feel a refreshing breeze; and the natural-style “Four Seasons Garden,” which evokes Japanese mountain scenery. The cafeteria “Kaze no Uta” also offers terrace seating where you can dine while enjoying the surrounding views.
