Awaji Highway Oasis
Awaji Highway Oasis is a highway rest area and entertainment complex located within Awaji Island Park, a Hyogo Prefectural park filled with flowers, greenery, and panoramic views. It is a place where you can fully enjoy “eating,” “playing,” and “shopping.” It is directly connected to Awaji Service Area (both inbound and outbound) on the Kobe–Awaji–Naruto Expressway, about a one-hour drive from central Osaka. Not only is it a convenient stop along the way, it is also popular as a destination in its own right. Facilities include restaurants featuring local ingredients such as Awaji beef, Awaji Island pork, and Awaji onions; viewing areas overlooking the Akashi Strait; beautiful flower gardens; and expansive lawns—plenty to enjoy all day. The “Awaji Bussankan” shop offers an especially wide selection of local souvenirs, including freshly harvested vegetables, craft beer, sweets, and seafood, making it easy to get carried away and buy more than you planned. The mascots—“Octopus Shogun,” “Awaji Tamako,” and “Tai Boyan”—are delightfully unique and irresistible for fans of yuru-chara (cute local mascots).
