Omiya Park

Omiya Park is a prefectural urban park in Saitama Prefecture covering an area of 67.8 hectares. Established in 1885 as Hikawa Park, it was the first prefectural park in Saitama. The park is known as a forest park, featuring over 1,200 cherry trees and pine groves with trees more than 100 years old. Omiya Park offers a wide range of facilities, including a baseball stadium, cycling track, soccer field, competitive swimming pool, archery hall, gymnasium, tennis courts, tea house, zoo, and amusement park. The park also includes a Japanese garden and has been selected as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots and Top 100 Urban Parks, making it a popular tourist destination in Saitama. Although the zoo and amusement park are small and mainly for children, animals such as capybaras and peacocks are beloved by young visitors. The park was originally a wetland, and Minuma Pond still remains. Note that boat rentals are currently suspended. Omiya Park is a 20-minute walk from the east exit of JR Omiya Station. Paid parking for 278 vehicles is available.
