Yoshinogasato Historical Park
Yoshinogari Historical Park is a facility where you can experience the Yayoi period through preservation of the Yoshinogari site, reconstructions of daily life, and exhibitions of excavated artifacts. It is considered a candidate location for “Yamataikoku” described in the Wei Zhi Worenchuan, and valuable materials and information are gathered here. The park is organized into four main zones: the “Entrance Zone,” which includes a guidance room and overall park information; the “Ancient Field Zone,” with athletic play, a long slide, trampolines, ground golf, and wide lawns; the “Moated Settlement Zone,” where Yayoi-era life is recreated and exhibited; and the “Ancient Forest Zone,” where ancient plants and burial rows are reconstructed. There is also a restaurant and shop; the restaurant uses one type of ancient rice, ‘akamai’ (red rice), letting you taste an ancient flavor as well. By car, access is about 5 minutes from the Nagasaki Expressway Higashisefuri IC via National Route 385. By public transportation, take JR Nagasaki Main Line from JR Shin-Tosu Station to either JR Yoshinogari-Koen Station (15-minute walk) or JR Kanzaki Station (15-minute walk).
