Tsukiyomi-no-miya Shrine
Tsukiyomi-no-Miya (a Betsugu subsidiary shrine of Kotai Jingu / Naiku) is a shrine that belongs to the group of separate shrines of the Inner Shrine (Kotai Jingu). It is worshiped for blessings such as warding off misfortune, purification of mind and body, good luck and prosperity, safe childbirth, and fertility. The enshrined deity is Tsukiyomi-no-Mikoto, the same deity as that of Tsukiyomi-no-Miya (Tsukiyomi Shrine) at the Outer Shrine (Geku). Since ancient times, Ise Jingu has observed the custom of "Geku Sensai," where rituals are conducted in order starting from the Outer Shrine, and it is considered formal to visit from the Outer Shrine to the Inner Shrine. For this reason, many people visit Tsukiyomi-no-Miya after worshiping at Ise Jingu, but this flow is not mandatory, so it is recommended to decide your preferred route based on your schedule. If you are visiting only Tsukiyomi-no-Miya, there are two access options: about a 10-minute walk from Kintetsu "Igarasu Suzukawa Station," or about a 6-minute walk from the route bus stop "Nakamura-cho." If you would like a more authentic pilgrimage route of visiting Tsukiyomi-no-Miya (a Betsugu shrine) after worshiping at Ise Jingu’s Outer Shrine, take a bus from "Naiku-mae" and get off at "Nakamura-cho."
